Refund policy
Agreements are between Look Appraisal LLC (the "Business") and the named Client (the "Client"), with an effective date being when payment has been manually authorized by the Business.
By engaging in business with the Business, the Client is contracting the Business for the services described in the Service Agreement.
- An Appraisal is defined as the act of process of developing an opinion of value.
- A Valuation is defined as determining monetary worth based upon the past exchange o items in the marketplace.
- Fair Market Value (FMV) is defined as a value defined by a legal or regulatory jurisdiction and varies with individual jurisdictions. For federal uses in the United States, such as estate and gift tax, charitable contributions, FMV is the most probable price at which property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under any compulsion to buy or to sell, both having reasonable knowledge of all relevant facts, and with the sale being made to the public in the most relevant market, taking into consideration the location of the property.
While Look Appraisal specializes in a wide range of personal property, some items fall outside our expertise. This includes but is not limited to autographed sports memorabilia, sports and game trading cards, fine jewelry, precious metals, currency, coins and stamps, livestock, built-in home fixtures, firearms, weaponry, vehicles, and aircraft.
The Business retains the right to refuse any order for any reason.
If the Business is unable to supply Service(s) due to unavailability of staff, a lack of subject matter expertise in the area of the appraisal or valuation, or events beyond our control, the Business will notify the Client and cancel the order. In this event, the Business will not proceed with the service order and refund any amount(s) the Client has paid the Business to the original form of payment as applicable to any signed Agreement terms and conditions.
If the Business is unable to obtain necessary requested information and/or personal property photographs from the Client in direct correlation to the Services being provided and is therefore unable to supply Services within a timely manner, the Business may terminate the Agreement with the Client in accordance with the terms of the signed Agreement. A timely manner is defined as 7 business days or less from the request date. The Business will refund the Client any money paid to the original form of payment less our reasonable costs incurred in attempting to perform the Service, in accordance with the cancellation fee policies.
Cancellation fees apply as follows:
- 50% of pre-appraisal consultation fees will be charged for pre-appraisal phone and Zoom consultation cancellations and rescheduling requests.
- Full service fees will be charged for all no-show pre-appraisal consultation Services.
- The Business will not be liable for any delay or non-performance due to the Client's failure to provide the Business with complete and accurate information within the requested timeframe of 7 business days from the date of request.
Authentication for property is based on visual inspection for remote appraisals and any related history provided to the Business by the Client. The Client is responsible for supplying accurate, clear, and unedited photographs, supporting documentation, receipts, and approximate dimensions. The appraiser is not an authenticator and will not be responsible for assumptions made about the authenticity of any item of personal property. Appraisal and valuation opinions must not be considered as an authenticity report.
When items are listed as a group, pair, or set, the value communicated is for the total group.
All sales are final upon electronic or verbal transmission of the Appraisal Report, Appraisal Summary, or Consulting Service to the Client unless outlined otherwise within these Terms.
Verbal appraisal reports, whether delivered by phone, in-person, Zoom, GoToMeeting, or by any video-conference service are non-refundable. Cancellation fees apply for all no-shows and/or cancellations.
All travel expenses, per diem, and mileage fees are non-refundable.
Remote appraisals and valuations are for Fair Market Value and auction estimates only. Remote appraisal services are not intended for use in any of the following categories or circumstances: equitable distribution of assets, estate tax filings, non-cash charitable contributions, insurance coverage, insurance claims, insurance loss, property division among heirs or family members, asset division in divorce, and asset based lending. These functions require a more detailed level of service delivery.
Our online and remote valuation services are delivered in a virtual and/or verbal format; you will receive written correspondence by email or text in regard to the confirmation of your service and/or appointment. No written appraisal report is provided for general consultations and verbal appraisal services.
In some instances for remote appraisal and valuation services, we may offer digital delivery of your valuation summary in .PDF format through a 3rd party platform such as We Transfer, Google Drive, Shopify or another online service provider. We may also deliver your digital valuation summary by email in .PDF format. Terms and conditions of these 3rd party vendors will apply to any associated order.
Return approval is solely at the discretion of the Business. If a hardcopy report is provided, additional shipping fees will apply, carrier tracking, and signature at the time of delivery may be required. Shipping fees and related taxes are non-refundable. In the event of a return approval by the Business, the Client is responsible for return shipping fees. Returned hardcopy valuation summaries must be postmarked and shipped within 1 day of the date of delivery and contain the sealed report with security tape and provisions intact.
All legal contracts and Service Agreement supersede site policies, terms, and conditions.
