Written Appraisals

Objective: insurance needs (claims, coverage), legal purposes, charitable donations, tax compliance/updates, business property valuations, and/or equitable distribution
Onsite Consultation Fee Includes: travel up to 30 round-trip miles from our Raleigh base to the inspection site. Primary inspection, identification, and condition assessment of items to be appraised, as stated in the scope of work agreement (onsite or virtual), measurements, general digital photography, UV light analysis as applicable, market analysis, special history intake, and pre-inspection research
  • Onsite inspection fees are billed hourly, daily, or at contract rates
  • 2-hour minimum charge applies for multiple items
  • Onsite inspection fees payable prior to the inspection date
  • All terms and fees outlined in a written contract, signed by each party prior to the assignment start date
Additional Fees
  • Subject matter expert, authenticators, or consultants as necessary
  • Travel in excess of 30 round-trip miles from our Raleigh base; billed at the business standard mileage rate for North Carolina
  • Per diem for full day assignments and out-of-state travel
  • Additional onsite inspections and/or consultations beyond the original scope of work
  • Final Appraisal Report Fees
  • Bound report formatting, upon request
  • Express mail report delivery
  • Commercial photography
  • Additional report copies for interested parties
        Note: Fees are defined during the initial call and/or after the initial inspection for larger assignments.

          Written Appraisal Appointment Request

          Verbal Appraisals

          Objective: identifying general value, pricing for resale, downsize decision-making, pre-sale walk-through price estimates/review* for large estate sales, yard sales, direct sales or large quantities of items, managing hagglers, general security precautions for in-person sales

          Verbal Consultation Fee Includes: travel of up to 30 miles round-trip from our Raleigh base to the inspection site, primary inspection, identification, and condition assessment of items to be appraised, as stated in the scope of work agreement (onsite or virtual), measurements where applicable, UV light analysis as applicable, market analysis guidance, general off-site data research, advice on in-person sales do's and don'ts, and verbal delivery of the final report.
          • Onsite inspection fees are billed hourly, daily, or at contract rates
          • 2-hour minimum applies for multiple items
          • Onsite inspection fees payable prior to appointment
          • All terms and fees will be outlined in a written contract, signed by each party
              Additional Fees
              • 3rd party experts, authenticators, or consultants, when necessary
              • Additional consultations beyond the original terms
              • Onsite location travel in excess of 30 miles round-trip from our Raleigh base
              • Group Presentations: parties of 3 or greater, clubs, civic organizations, commercial, government, institutional, or non-profit organizations incur custom event pricing

              Pre-Appraisal Chat*

              Objective: determine if an appraisal is warranted, get an idea of market demand, determine item condition, obtain a broad estimate replacement value; intended for single items or small groups of items
              • A high-level discussion in a 30 or 60-minute Zoom meeting or phone call about your appraisal needs
              • General item condition overview
              • An explanation about why an appraisal may be needed or not and what type of appraisal is appropriate
              • Timeline reviews

              *Subject to item acceptance; client agrees to having read and accepted site terms and conditions prior to purchase. Orders subject to cancellation. Not all items will qualify. No written report will be provided in a verbal appraisal appointment. Cancellation fee applies for no-shows and rescheduling prior to stated deadline.

              Downsize Guidance Consultation**

              Purpose: insight regarding procedures related to the resale or donation of fine art, collectibles, or inherited property; learn about your options and general responsibilities with a consultation before making any major decisions.
              Includes:
              • A 30 or 60-minute consultation by phone or Zoom
              • An overview of how the valuation process works and if it may be needed to support your item values
              • Condition, condition, condition and why it matters.
              • Discussion related to whether resale is the right option
              • An overview of suitable venues for resale or auction
              • Charitable donations process overview
