Executor Assessment Service for Navigating Estates
Navigating an Estate? Let's Identify Valuables
If you're an executor, determining the accurate value of personal property in an estate is critical. In North Carolina, an executor has a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of the estate and its beneficiaries by accurately inventorying and valuing assets, among other key requirements. Quite often, I am contacted by executors, attorneys, financial representatives, and families, after significant time and energy have been invested in sorting, researching, and attempting to value an estate’s contents. At some point, the day comes where one realizes it is time to contract a qualified appraiser to provide professional services. It is important to know, the process of determining Fair Market Value involves far more than a quick search on Google, eBay, or other online sources. Avoid exhaustion and the risk of oversight by contracting Look Appraisal to conduct an inspection with our Executor Assessment Service*.
Executor Assessment Service
For a flat rate, the appraiser will complete a convenient visual inspection of personal property to aid in identifying items of value which may require appraisal services. This service is intended as a screening tool to make sure items of greater value do not "slip through the cracks" and end up in a donation or trash pile, the wrong hands, underpriced at an estate sale, ignored, and more. Whether it is a fine art, collectibles, rare books, memorabilia, a treasured record collection, furnishings, or a piece of historical prominence, we offer a well trained eye to identify personal property of value (*some property exclusions apply, see terms for details).
Includes:
- A 30-minute phone consultation prior to the inspection to learn about the property and process
- A 2-hour onsite personal property inspection. *travel expenses billed separately for any location 20 roundtrip miles+ from our home office in NW Raleigh
- Our hourly fee applies for inspections exceeding 2-hours, plus applicable travel expenses
- After the inspection, guidance is provided in a written summary to outline whether appraisal services may be recommended. The summary will note if the estate's personal property may be more likely to fall under the simplified process in North Carolina.
